Barnana is built on a mission to create better snacks for people and the planet. We focus on simple ingredients, responsible farming, and reducing food waste at every step of the process. Our snacks come from sustainably sourced bananas and plantains grown by small family farmers across Latin America.

Through upcycling. Many bananas and plantains are rejected by exporters for being “too ripe,” “too small,” or “not perfect enough” for retail, yet they’re still delicious. Barnana rescues these perfectly good crops and transforms them into snacks, helping reduce waste and support farmers with fairer, more consistent income.

Barnana works directly with farming communities and manages multiple steps of the process, from sourcing to drying and production, rather than using multiple middlemen. This direct relationship helps ensure quality, traceability, fair pricing for farmers, and more control over sustainable practices, all the way to the final packaged snack.

Regenerative agriculture is a farming approach that restores soil health, increases biodiversity, and helps capture carbon from the atmosphere. Barnana partners with growers who use regenerative practices such as composting, natural soil enrichment, and multi-species planting to build healthier ecosystems while improving long-term crop resilience.

By working closely with smallholder farmers, providing stable purchase agreements, offering training on regenerative and organic practices, and helping introduce more sustainable and profitable methods of cultivation. Our model aims to create long-term value for grower communities while protecting the ecosystems they depend on.
